The Year That Was At Vayudoot

Vayudoot was established with the primary objective to provide connectivity to the rural areas of Kangra district. The enterprise decided to place a focus on rural areas as the already established telecom providers were operating in the urban areas and did not make an effort to reach out to remote locations.

Operating in remote locations comes with its own set of challenges. Setting-up network is difficult and in a place like Himachal the hilly terrain, climatic conditions such as heavy rainfall, high velocity winds, lightning strikes and wildlife movement makes it even more difficult. All these years, we have taken the challenges headlong and always provided good connectivity at affordable rates to our customers.

Another year is coming to an end and it has been an eventful year at Vayudoot. Despite the low cost high volume strategy of all telecom providers, we still find takers for our internet services, as we reach areas where no telecom provider will ever go.

 

The net data flow by the end of 2017 was 1 STM approximately, which was increased upto 2 STM in 2018.  In the next year we plan to raise it to 3 STM so as to continue providing good services to our customers.

In 2018, we upgraded our network so as to maintain a high uptime as well as build out capacities.

  • Solar Panels: Setting up of solar panels at our remote points of presence. This helps reduce our dependence on electricity supply in such areas. Not only that we are able to power up POP’s purely on solar energy.

  • Optical Fibres: We have introduced optical fibres within our core network, which has enhanced our data carrying capacity. In 2019, we are planning to roll out fibre connectivity to last mile customers at some locations.

Our process-driven service is what makes Vayudoot stand out from other players.  The field team does not limit itself to only setting up new connections. It is tasked with handling service issues on priority. Most of our customers were made aware of paying their monthly rentals easily online. Any complaint received from the user is immediately registered and resolved within a set time frame. In the last year, we have improved our services to an extent where escalations of customer complaints are rare.

2018 has been an year of growth for Vayudoot and we hope to scale greater heights in the coming year as well.
